"As in many of my other works, this painting also features a dialogue between a bear and a human. For me, the bear symbolizes, as in Finnish folklore, strength, wisdom, and fortitude in the trials of life. The bear is a mythological and courageous animal that has been valued and respected throughout the ages. Its calmness and fearlessness are a combination that makes the most fragile animals hide in the forests and hunters be on their guard.
In this painting I thought about man's relationship with nature and the wisdom he seeks from the God of the Forest, the bear, as the bear is called in Finnish legends. It has supported man on his journey so far, but from now on, man must survive by listening to the voice of his own heart, trusting in his own wisdom and courage. Life carries.
